Deb Ruffalo MS. L.Ac. – Acupuncture & Herbs
I am a graduate of Touro College where I received my masters degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine, focusing on acupuncture, Chinese herbs and Tui Na. During my time in school I worked doing acupuncture through an internship with Lutheran Hospital in Brooklyn, New York where I focused my efforts on oncology, labor and delivery and stroke rehabilitation. For four and a half years I have been apprenticing at The Droge Clinic where I garnered extensive experience in treating orthopedic and sports injuries, psychiatric conditions, fertility, and autoimmune diseases using Chinese Medicine.
In my work, I focus on helping people to develop a new language with themselves through self-awareness and observation. Through acupuncture and Tui Na, I help my patients to break down personal barriers and start connecting their feelings, thoughts, spirit, sensations and physical pains. This inward understanding allows us to respond in a more healthy way to our external environment, creating a more balanced and peaceful life. I believe achieving health goes beyond the absence of disease, to actively living a balanced life, where there is fluidity between mind, body and the external environment.
What inspires me most about Chinese Medicine is its ability to see each person as a unique individual. It acknowledges all of our experiences such as past and/or chronic health issues, childhood illnesses, stress, eating habits, physical injuries and other lifestyle choices as major influencers in our current state of health, allowing us to create a treatment plan that works specifically for each person.
I received my B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison where I graduated with a double major in Literature and Woman's Studies with a concentration in Art History.
